AMD has finally introduced the Ryzen 4000 APU (with its Renoir name code) at the CES 2020 event. This will be highly anticipated for high-performance laptop devices.
The AMD Ryzen 4000 APU comes with 7NM and its performance offers up to 8 cores (16 threads) with a 4.2 GHz speed.
Its first Benchmark, AMD has exceeded the performance of Intel Mobile. He previously also managed to outperform Intel on high-end desktop PCS with the Ryzen 3000 and Threadripper 3000 products.
Indeed lately AMD CPUS are increasingly popular among PC's. The lack of Intel PC processors has pushed OEM and brand vendors to increasingly adopt AMD CPUS.
Ryzen 4000 APU Mobile comes in U series variants with cTDP 10-25W and H series with cTDP 35-45W.
AMD Ryzen 4000 U-Series
U-Series Products | Cores/Thread | Base Clock (GHz) | Boost Clock (GHz) | Cache | GPU cores | GPU frequency (MHz) | Tdp |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ryzen 7 4800U | 8/16 | 1.8 | 4.2 | 12 | 8 | 1750 | 15w |
Ryzen 7 4700U | 8/8 | 1.8 | 4.1 | 12 | 7 | 1600 | 15w |
Ryzen 5 4600U | 6/12 | 2.1 | 4.0 | 11 | 6 | 1500 | 15w |
Ryzen 5 4500U | 6/6 | 2.3 | 4.0 | 11 | 6 | 1500 | 15w |
Ryzen 3 4300U | 4/4 | 2.7 | 3.7 | 6 | 5 | 1400 | 15w |
From that data, AMD is superior to Intel Comet Lake-U, in terms of cores and Clock speed. Compared to the previous (3000 series) CPU Zen2 with 7nm Fabrication offers:
- Increased 15% Instruction per Clock (IPC);
- Clockspeed is higher;
- 2x density transistor;
- Power is lower 20%, and Performance increased 2x in every Watt.
Here's the Ryzen 7 4800U benchmark results with AMD's Intel i7-1065G7. Apparently AMD's latest mobile Processor gets higher performance.
AMD Ryzen 4000 H-Series
Then for gaming class laptops and AMD creators offer two options for the Ryzen 4000 H.
H Series Products | Core/Thread | Base Clock (GHz) | Boost Clock (GHz) | Cache | GPU cores | GPU frequency (MHz) | Tdp |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ryzen 7 4800H | 8/16 | 2.9 | 4.2 | 12 | 7 | 1600 | 45W |
Ryzen 5 4600H | 6/12 | 3.0 | 4.0 | 11 | 6 | 1500 | 45W |
From the results Benchmark comparison between Ryzen 4800H and Core i7-9750H seems to show a pretty good increase in differences.
Integrated Graphics Ryzen 4000
Ryzen 4000 still uses Vega, if previously still use the 14NM for the series this time he uses the Vega 7nm. Not only is the performance of the GPU also increased 59% higher than the previous generation.
For RAM support, the Ryzen 4000 can use DDR4 3200MHz and LPDDR4 4266MHz.
AMD also introduced a new technology called AMD Smartshift, configuring Ryzen and Radeon. It's a smart technology to allocate performance, better and efficient resources.
Example: When gaming, power tends to be switched to graphics rather than processors for improved gaming performance. Or like content creation, which is where power can be diverted to the processor to allow more performance.
Some laptops that have been announced in the CES will use the Ryzen 4000 are Asus Zephyrus G14, Asus Zephyrus G15, Asus TUF A15/A17, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7, and Dell G5 15.
