Intel issued a 10th generation processor, which is intended for mobile devices. One of them is fast and power saving laptops, as well as thin and light laptop designs and 2 in 1 designs.
The code name Ice Lake became the first, and within a period of less than a month, Comet Lake appeared. So the Gen 10 intel family has two code names. And here are the differences between Intel Comet Like and Ice Lake.
Ice Lake
The first 10th generation Intel processor was made with a 10nm process. In numbering, the Ice Lake processor series ends with “G x “, this shows an Intel Ice Lake processor with integrated graphics. The number after G shows the level of the graph, with “G7” the highest.
Ice Lake generation offers high graphics capabilities, brings intelligent AI features and fast connectivity.
AI is faster
AI intelligent performance with Deep Learning Boost is claimed to be able to speed up the neural network on the CPU to maximize responsiveness to intensive tasks such as automatic image enhancement, photo indexing and playing with photorealistic effects. Intel claims DL Boost gives the Ice Lake CPU an 8x increase in performance when compared to its competitors.
Counts up to 1 GPU engine teraflop for continuous high throughput inference applications such as video stylization, analytics, and increased real-time video resolution.
Intel® Gaussian & Neural Accelerator (GNA) delivers special engines for background workloads such as sound processing and noise reduction at very low power, for maximum battery life.
Example Usefulness AI, can sharpen photos that were initially blurred.
New graphics
A prominent feature of Ice Lake is improved graphics performance with the new gen11 and better graphics engine (thanks to Intel Iris Plus). This will increase laptop GPUs that don’t have special GPUs.
With the Intel Iris Plus, Ice Lake CPU can improve gaming performance, claimed to be able to handle some games that are relatively smooth at 1080p resolution. create high-end content such as 4K video editing even with hdr, faster video filter applications, and high-resolution photo processing. Everything can go smoothly.
Connectivity
Intel ice lake is possible to embed up to four Thunderbolt 3 ports. Keep in mind Thunderbolt 3 offers speeds up to 8x faster than US3.0.
Supports Intel WI-FI 6 GIG +, which comes with speeds almost 3x faster than the WI-FI 802.11ac.
Intel Ice Lake specifications
There are 11 Ice Lake processor chips, it comes in Core i3, i5, and i7 variants. Here are 11 of these chips.

Judging from the numbering, this does not clearly distinguish, which ones are U series and which are Y series.
Comet Lake
Different from ice lakes, this time Comet Lake was produced with a 14nm process. It was created as a refinement of Whiskey Lake, primarily in terms of strength and efficiency. Comet Lake is an Intel gen10 created specifically to provide increased productivity and performance scaling for multithreaded workloads.
Comet Lake comes with increased performance and higher clock frequencies. However, there is no Intel iris plus so that the graphics it has is lower. And the absence of Deep Learning Boost in AI performance. Its connectivity is still the same as ice lake, namely Thunderbolt 3 and Wi-Fi 6.
In numbering, you can distinguish between Comet Lake U and Y series more easily. The picture explains the comet lake numbering, as well as the difference between Ice Lake and Comet Lake.
